The Blue Moon Exhibit Gallery is a SACAP project dedicated to providing opportunities to the southern Aroostook community to experience art in many forms by inviting artists or groups of artists to show their work to the public.
The mission of the Blue Moon Gallery is to expose the community to a variety of art and ideas, and engage community members in discussion and learning about art.
The Gallery hosts six to eight exhibits each year. Subject matter ranges from solo artist shows to themed shows to collaborations with other local community organizations. Exhibits are open to the public during SACAP hours Tuesday-Friday 12-5 pm, Saturday 10-2.
Historically, Blue Moon Gallery exhibits have been by
invitation, and have often involved collaboration with a community organization or guild. Several exhibits have included an occasion for public discussion of the art.
There are a few opportunities each year for “artist-inspired “ exhibits, and the Blue Moon Gallery is now accepting proposals from artists for exhibits for the years 2009-10. A proposed exhibit can be of an individual artist’s work, or a group of artists can collaborate to produce an exhibit.
Applications will be accepted or not based on quality of artwork, and interest or relevance of the exhibit idea to the community.
