Blue Moon

The Blue Moon Gallery, located in the middle section of Visions, is Houlton’s premier, and only venue dedicated to the local art scene, allowing a place for artists and artisans to showcase and sell their work.  We hang six shows a year, each opening with a public reception, where members of our community are invited to come and see the new work, as well as to meet the artist and mingle with their neighbors.

Every Spring we host a student art show, highlighting some of the best young local talent this area offers, accepting submissions from several school districts as well as our local home schooling community.  Each year we select some of our favorite pieces and create greeting cards that we sell online (*insert hyperlink) and at Visions, the proceeds of which support our art scholarship.  If you’d like to get involved, or if you know a student who would like to show, please get in touch with us at 532-9119.

Our current exhibit is the Dream Rocket:  The Dream Rocket Project was born out of the International Fiber Collaborative, a grass roots arts movement dedicated to art, education and outreach, is a “large scale collaborative wrap” consisting of panels created by individuals and groups from around the world.  This traveling show will conclude in 2014 with the wrapping of the Saturn V Rocket.  For more information about this show, and how you can still participate please visit their website: http://www.thedreamrocket.com/
