Visions

Through the efforts of scores of volunteers and donors, SACAP operates a shop, called Visions at 66 Main Street, Houlton. Visions sells original and handcrafted fine arts and fine crafts created by artists and artisans from throughout Southern Aroostook County and beyond.

The first 40 feet of the storefront is the shop called, Visions, where a wide variety of items are sold, including framed paintings and photographs, prints, cards, jewelry, silk scarves and ties, quilts, wooden toys and games, musical CDs, furniture, and decorative items.  A middle room houses the Blue Moon Gallery where exhibits are on display for two month intervals, and all the way in the back, is the Stellar Arts Cavern, a wonderful resource room and space for artists to gather, hold workshops, and share ideas.  Anyone interested in using the Stellar Arts Cavern for a workshop or meeting should contact us.

The shop itself is eye catching, and acts as a dynamic showcase to the talent that lives and thrives in our surrounding communities.  Always on the lookout for new new artists, we would love the opportunity to speak with you about your work, so if you are a local artist interested in selling your work through Visions, please stop in, send us an email, or call for more information regarding the process of having your work shown in our space.

Volunteers designed and painted the exterior storefront, the inside walls, shelves, counters, radiators, and other fixtures.  They built racks and shelves, created and hung the sign, ran phone wires, set up systems for tracking sales, donated fixtures and appliances, cleaned windows, scrubbed floors and even polished brass on the door, and now they staff and run our shop!  Our deepest appreciation and thanks goes out to them all.

The Visions shop furthers SACAP’s mission of helping the arts flourish in Southern Aroostook County by providing a year-round venue for artists to sell work, by providing unique and beautiful items for community members to buy and share, by showing the community and the world beyond the unsurpassed talent and products we make here, and by supporting the local economy through arts and culture. Visions is our effort to realize our belief that the arts can play a critical role in redeveloping Houlton’s downtown.
